I'm a blogger!

Well, I guess I’m a blogger now!

I thought this would be a great way to connect, share recent work and business updates! But to start, let me introduce myself...

I have lived in Barrie for over 30 years. After graduating the digital photography program at Georgian college, I worked in various roles in the photography industry including as a technician at a photo developing lab, an assistant to a few different local photographers, and a wedding photographer where I got to travel all over Simcoe County and Muskoka to join couples on their happiest day for over 5 years.

In 2014 I decided to explore a whole new path and took as job as a photographer on cruise ships. What I thought might last for one contract, or 6 months, ended up extending to almost 3.5 years in the travel industry. During that time, I brought my total of countries visited up to 60 on 6 continents. The travel and the lifestyle were so fun and crazy at times, and I met so many amazing people from all over the world. However, after over 3 years of working 7-day workweeks for 6 months at a time, not to mention being away from home for that long too, I decided it was time for me to move on.

Fast forward to March 2020 when my full-time job working for a wedding photography studio came to a halt, it caused me to reevaluate what I was looking for in a career, and without sounding too “woo-woo”, a lot of things in my life aligned and pointed me towards taking the leap into self-employment.

Taking a complete 180 from weddings and portraiture, I decided to focus on shooting real estate and interiors. Taking my extensive technical knowledge, creative eye and everything I had learned and practiced over the last 15 years, I went all in and taught myself the basics, watched all kinds of online tutorials and shot every day to practice.

About a year later now, I’ve developed my style and techniques, and I’m at a place where I am 100% confident about what I can do in this new avenue and what I offer my clients. While you’re here on my website, have a look around and let’s chat about what I can do for your next listing!

The serious part is over, now here’s some facts about me – I’ll let you decide if they’re fun or not!

-         I got lost in China on my 30th birthday

-         One of my favourite parts of travelling is the food, and I have gathered a small collection of cookbooks from my travels all over the world

-         I love to bake and I am a very very very amateur cake decorator

-         My dream job would be a sports photographer at the Olympics

-         My dream vacation would be to Morocco to eat all the food and see the colourful sights. Next would be Iceland, or anywhere I could see the Northern Lights and stay in a glass igloo
